Man recovers $4.5M in old bitcoin he thought was lost since 2012
No clear lean
Feel-good individual story, not news about the market itself
What happened
Back in 2012, a British investor bought a small amount of bitcoin worth about $2,000 and then lost access to it, assuming it was gone for good. Years later, he managed to recover the wallet, and because bitcoin's price has risen enormously since then, that same small purchase is now worth about $4.5 million.
Why it matters
It's a reminder that crypto's value has grown a lot over the past decade, and that losing access to a wallet (not the coins themselves) is often the real risk people face, not the coins disappearing.
Should I do anything?
No action needed here. If anything, it's a good nudge to double-check that you have secure, backed-up access to any crypto you hold, so you don't end up in the 'lost' situation this person was in.
